Heritage Courtyard and Manduva House: A Guide to Traditional Telugu Ceremonies in Hyderabad

Weddings · · Sri Golden Meadows

Many Telugu families, including NRI couples coming home for their wedding, want the pre-wedding rituals to feel rooted in tradition. Mangala snaanam, Pellikoothuru and Pellikoduku, a Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham or a simple family puja feel more natural under trees and open sky than in a sealed hall with a false ceiling.

Sri Golden Meadows has two spaces that answer that need. The Heritage Courtyard (Mango Tree Garden) is an event venue for up to 300 guests, set in a paved courtyard shaded by mature mango trees. The Manduva House is a traditional South Indian house built as a film set, with wooden pillars, terracotta-tiled roofs and an open-to-sky central courtyard. This guide explains how each is used and how they complement one another.

Heritage Courtyard (Mango Tree Garden)

Heritage Courtyard is listed on our venues page for mehendi, haldi, pujas and intimate family gatherings, for up to 300 guests. The features we list are classic pillared corridors, photo-shoot backdrops, an open-to-sky central courtyard layout, luxury restrooms, and traditional floral decorations ready for use.

By day, the mango trees cast dappled shade over the paved courtyard, which keeps morning rituals comfortable. By night, lights strung through the branches and a decorated stage turn the same space into a warm setting for a mehendi or sangeet.

The Manduva House

The traditional manduva logili was the joint-family home of Andhra and Telangana, built around a central courtyard open to the sky and surrounded by covered verandas. Our Manduva House recreates that layout with wooden pillars, terracotta-tiled roofs and an open central courtyard. It is one of the sets on our film studios page, used for period dramas and village-life scenes, and it gives couples and photographers an authentic traditional backdrop.

Ceremonies that belong in a courtyard

1. Pellikoothuru, Pellikoduku and haldi

The anointing of the bride and groom with turmeric and the mangala snaanam are joyful and messy, and they work best in an open, paved space where water and petals are not a worry. Shade from the trees keeps elders comfortable while the family gathers around.

2. Mehendi afternoons and evenings

Mehendi artists need good light and somewhere comfortable to sit for hours. The courtyard gives you shade by day and string-lit trees by night, with room for guests to move around while the henna is applied.

3. Pujas, vrathams and Upanayanam

Family pujas, the Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham and thread ceremonies suit a calm, traditional setting away from city noise. Talk to us about any ritual involving a fire, and we will advise on where and how to set it up safely.

4. Seemantham and baby showers

A seemantham with bangles, flowers and a decorated swing feels at home in a garden courtyard, and a guest list of up to 300 leaves room for the extended family.

5. Traditional portraits and shoots

Photographers can move between the pillared corridors and mango trees of the courtyard and the wooden pillars and tiled roofs of the Manduva House for heritage-style portraits.

Who books these spaces on purpose

  • NRI couples who want their wedding photographs to reflect Telugu culture.
  • Families with elders who remember courtyard homes and want the next generation to experience one.
  • Photographers looking for natural light, shade and traditional textures.

Food and traditional dining

A Telugu wedding isn't complete without a proper meal. Sri Golden Meadows has a dedicated dining arena and food court for buffet set-ups. If you plan a traditional banana-leaf meal, discuss the seating and service layout with us and your caterer during the site visit so it can be planned around the space.

Location and parking

Both spaces are on the Sri Golden Meadows estate in Manchirevula, Gandipet Mandal, about 1 km from Narsingi Junction. Relatives flying in can reach the estate from the airport in about 25 minutes via the ORR. There is secure parking for over 300 four-wheelers and over 500 two-wheelers.

Pros

  • A courtyard setting under mango trees for up to 300 guests.
  • Pillared corridors, photo backdrops and luxury restrooms.
  • A traditional Manduva House set on the same estate for heritage photos.
  • Larger halls and lawns nearby for the main wedding and reception.

Practical considerations

  • The courtyard is open to the sky, so during the monsoon keep a backup plan with the team.
  • For receptions above 300 guests, move to the Elysian Grand (AC Banquet Hall) or the lawns.
  • The Manduva House is a film set first, so check its availability for your date when you enquire.

Misconceptions we clear up

"Heritage Courtyard and the Manduva House are the same place." They aren't. The Heritage Courtyard is the mango-tree garden venue for functions; the Manduva House is a separate traditional house set used mainly for shoots.

"You need to travel to a village for this kind of setting." Both are in Gandipet, about 15 minutes from the Financial District.

A four-month roadmap for a traditional ceremony

  1. Four months out: visit in the morning to see the light under the trees, and fix your muhurtham date.
  2. Two months out: plan floral decor for the pillars and stage with your florist.
  3. One month out: finalise the menu and dining layout with your caterer.
  4. One week out: confirm puja items, the guest count and vendor arrival times with our team.
